Saletto is a comfortable and easy-to-use saliva collection device that enables efficient downstream testing, resulting in reduced time, resources and overall cost.

Key Design Features

The user and their experience is our priority.

  • Proven proprietary collection pad (Sponge) with highly absorptive filtration matrix and dual-functionality –  the collection pad absorbs a pre-determined quantity of saliva and removes large particulates, mucins and impurities, achieving optimal sample purity (with DNA A260/280 ratios ~1.8) and reduced viscosity (up to 5.9x in high viscosity donors).
  • DNA stabilizing fluid, providing sample stability at ambient temperatures  –  when saliva is collected into the Collection Tube, it mixes with DNA stabilizing agent and can be transported with ease.
  • Enclosed collection design that reduces the potential for contamination –  user places Sponge directly into their mouth, compresses the Sponge with a Push Cap after saturation, and saliva is collected directly into an enclosed vial with DNA stabilizing agent.
  • Collection Tube compatibility with automated extraction and analysis platforms  – Collection Tube is a standard vial used in liquid handling systems, with a barcode for identification and cap that is compatible with automatic de-capping processes.
  • Sample Sufficiency Indicator to convey completion of collection – Indicator turns blue to signal saturation of the collection pad.

Benefits of Saletto

Improves Accessibility and Patient Compliance

The user and their experience is our priority.

  • Saletto is inclusive of independent and assisted collection needs. Saletto® is deliberately designed to be used by all age groups and abilities, independently or with the use of a caregiver.
  • Eliminates any test hesitancy that comes with fear of needles or the discomfort of spitting into a tube. The collection pad used to collect the saliva is soft, providing a comfortable experience for users.
  • Saletto allows users to provide samples in the comfort of their own homes, eliminating the need for an appointment, driving to a testing center or referral by a physician.
  • Saletto avoids processes that can expose consumers and providers to germs (nasal swab, needle).
  • Because it is comfortable, less messy and non-invasive, consumers are more likely to comply with testing (92% of people willing to test for COVID-19 via home saliva test vs. 60% who tested with clinic nasal swab).

Streamlines Genetic Testing Workflows

Saletto seamlessly integrates into and simplifies genetic testing workflows to save valuable resources, time, and cost providing quicker results.

  • Saletto provides convenient, at-home testing, saving time and resources for labs or clinics.
  • Saletto reduces sample preparation steps prior to testing as it delivers high-quality saliva samples with reduced viscosity and unwanted particulates.
  • The Collection Tube seamlessly integrates into automated extraction and analysis platforms –has a barcode for sample identification and Cap that is compatible with automatic de-capping processes.

Allows for Confident Collection

The users can trust the product and the labs can trust the process

  • For the user: device design incorporates a sample sufficiency Indicator which turns blue to signal saturation of the collection pad and completion of collection.
  • For the lab or diagnostic firm: Saletto has been proven for use in downstream genetic testing techniques.

How OFCD-300 works

Collect

The user moves Saliva into the Sponge in their mouth until the Sample Sufficiency Indicator alerts them that the sponge is fully saturated.

Compress

Once collection is complete, the Push Cap is used to compress the sponge till the saliva reaches the Fill Line. Clean saliva is safely transferred into the Collection Tube which contains the DNA preservative.

Cap and Shake

The Handle is then ready to be discarded and the Collection Tube capped and shaken to mix the contents.
